A wet vac, or wet and dry vacuum cleaner, is a powerful machine that can be used to vacuum up both liquids and solids. It is designed to tackle big messes inside the home, as well as the debris, sticky crumbs, and spillages that can be found outside in the yard or the car. Wet vacs are significantly more powerful than standard vacuum cleaners, and have a separate motor from its airflow to eliminate the risk of any electrical faults when cleaning up gallons of water, especially for households prone to flooding. Wet and dry vacuum cleaners typically use a two-chamber system that separates solids and liquids into two different buckets. Some models even convert into more portable vacuums. Wet vacs can be used for a variety of tasks, including:
- Vacuuming liquids as well as solids, such as spilt drinks, a leaking pipe, hot tub water, and even floodwater.
- Vacuuming both indoors and outdoors, such as carpets, wooden floors, patios, driveways, and gardens.
- Unblock drains and sinks.
- Clearing away leaves from your garden.
- Cleaning fireplaces.
- Cleaning up after DIY tasks, such as sawdust and plaster.
- Inflating and deflating objects around the home, such as airbeds and paddling pools.
- Cleaning the inside of your car, including the dashboard, car mats, between the seats, and upholstery.
- Cleaning upholstery such as curtains and sofas.
It is important to always empty out the water bucket/collection immediately after use to keep your vacuum in good condition.
