Asexuality is a sexual orientation characterized by a lack of sexual attraction to others, or low or absent interest in or desire for sexual activity. People who identify as asexual are often referred to as "ace" or "aces". Asexuality exists on a spectrum, and there are many ways for people to identify within the ace community. Some common terms include:

• Demisexual: People who only experience sexual attraction once they form a strong emotional connection with another person.
• Gray-A: People who identify somewhere between sexual and asexual.
• Aromantic: People who do not experience romantic attraction to others.

Its important to remember that asexuality is not the same as celibacy or abstinence, which are choices to abstain from sexual activity. Asexuality is a sexual orientation, or an intrinsic part of an asexual persons identity. Asexual people may still experience romantic attraction and desire emotionally intimate relationships. Its also important to note that asexuality is not a medical condition, and there is nothing "wrong" with asexual people.

The ace community is often misunderstood and faces challenges such as poor media depictions and rejection by partners or love interests when coming out. However, there are resources available to help people understand asexuality and support the ace community. Ace Week, held annually during the last full week of October, is a campaign to raise awareness about asexual people and to celebrate the ace community.
