Aachar Sanhita, also known as the Model Code of Conduct, is a set of guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India for the conduct of political parties and candidates during elections. It mainly covers guidelines related to speeches, polling day, polling booths, portfolios, election manifestos, processions, and general conduct. The Model Code of Conduct comes into effect immediately after the announcement of elections in India, whether it is for the central, state, or local level. All political parties and candidates must follow the Model Code of Conduct, and any violation could lead to trouble for the candidate or the election being declared void. The Model Code of Conduct is announced by the Election Commission of India before the elections and ends after the elections are over.
