Adaptive Audio is a feature available on AirPods Pro (2nd generation) that dynamically blends Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) together based on the conditions of a users environment to deliver the best experience in the moment. Adaptive Audio features include Adaptive Noise Control, Personalized Volume, and Conversation Awareness.
-
Adaptive Noise Control: This feature blends ANC and Transparency mode together to tailor the level of noise control for the user based on the conditions in their environment. Users can switch between noise-control modes while wearing both AirPods Pro (2nd generation) by pressing and holding the force sensor on either AirPod.
-
Personalized Volume: This feature adjusts the media volume on AirPods Pro (2nd generation) based on environmental conditions and the users volume preferences. It learns the users listening preferences over time to fine-tune the media volume in response to their surrounding environment.
-
Conversation Awareness: This feature seamlessly lowers the media volume and enhances voices in front of the user when they start talking while wearing AirPods Pro (2nd generation). When the conversation ends, Conversation Awareness automatically turns up the volume and brings the user back to their original noise control setting. Users can enable Conversation Awareness in Control Center and Settings on their iPhone or iPad.
Adaptive Audio is available for both AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C) and AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with Lightning and new USB-C case versions. Users can enable or disable Adaptive Audio features on their iPhone or iPad in Settings > .
