Adaptive mode is a feature available on the second-generation AirPods Pro. It is a listening mode that blends Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) together based on the conditions of the users environment to deliver the best experience in the moment. Adaptive Audio uses machine learning to automatically adjust the level of noise control based on the conditions in the users environment. The feature is designed to work seamlessly, so the user doesnt need to manually switch between the two modes. Adaptive Audio gradually tweaks the blend of ANC and transparency when there is a change in the users surroundings. For example, if the user enters a loud coffee shop or sits near a noisy A/C unit, Adaptive Audio gently increases the level of noise cancellation to combat the clamor.

Other features available on the second-generation AirPods Pro include Personalized Volume and Conversation Awareness. Personalized Volume adjusts the media volume on the AirPods Pro based on environmental conditions and the users volume preferences. It learns the users listening preferences over time to fine-tune the media volume in response to the surrounding environment. Conversation Awareness seamlessly lowers the media volume and enhances voices in front of the user when they start talking while wearing the AirPods Pro. When the conversation ends, Conversation Awareness automatically turns up the volume and brings the user back to their original noise control setting.

Adaptive Audio, Personalized Volume, and Conversation Awareness are available for both AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C) and AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with Wireless Charging Case (Qi-compatible).
