The Advance Reservation Period (ARP) is the time period between the opening day of the train ticket booking and the date of the journey. It is the duration during which passengers can book their tickets in advance. The ARP varies depending on the type of train and the quota under which the ticket is booked. Here are some examples of ARP for different types of trains and quotas:

• Intercity day trains: In some cases, the ARP for intercity day trains is less than 60 days.

• Tatkal scheme: The ARP for Tatkal scheme is reduced from two days to one day, excluding the day of journey from the train originating station.

• Special trains: The ARP for special trains is a maximum of 7 days, and only confirmed tickets will be booked. Booking of Waitlist and RAC tickets is not permitted.

• Foreign Tourist Quota: International users can book tickets under the Foreign Tourist Quota up to 365 days in advance. For bookings done within the current ARP, the ARP will be calculated based on the date of booking.

• Suvidha trains: The maximum ARP for Suvidha trains is 120 days. No concession is applicable on these trains, and full adult fare shall be charged.
