An adverb of place is a type of adverb that modifies verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs by indicating the location or direction of an action. It answers the question "where?". Adverbs of place can be directional, such as up, down, around, away, north, southeast, or refer to distances, such as nearby, far away, miles apart. They can also indicate an objects position in relation to another object, such as below, between, above, behind, through, around, and so forth. Adverbs of place are usually placed after the main verb or after the clause that they modify.
