Affinity is a stat associated with weapons in Monster Hunter that determines how likely a weapon is to land a critical attack. It can be either positive or negative, and each weapon has an Affinity stat where the chance to perform extra damage is displayed as a percentage. If a weapon shows a negative value for Affinity, then this will determine how likely the player is to deliver a weak attack. When a player lands a critical hit in Monster Hunter, they will see a red slash through the damage number. Affinity can be raised by equipping certain armor skills, such as Critical Eye, Weakness Exploit, Latent Power, Agitator, Maximum Might, Critical Draw, and Affinity Sliding. Affinity is a multiplicative bonus to damage, and 100% affinity with critical boost 3 is a 40% extra damage.
