It was created through a restructuring of Google on October 2, 2015, and became the parent company of Google and several former Google subsidiaries. Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies, with the largest of which being Google. The companys subsidiaries include Verily Life Sciences, GV, Calico, and X. Alphabet invests in infrastructure, data, machine learning, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI). The companys model is to have a strong CEO who runs each business, with the founders in service to them as needed. Alphabet is about businesses prospering through strong leaders and independence. The company is not intended to be a big consumer brand with related products, and the whole point is that Alphabet companies should have independence and develop their own brands. Alphabet is the worlds third-largest technology company by revenue and one of the worlds most valuable companies.
