Amethyst is a new item in Minecraft that was added as part of the 1.17 "Caves and Cliffs" update. It is obtained by mining Amethyst geodes, which spawn underground and are typically comprised of Amethyst blocks and will grow Amethyst clusters inside of them. Here are some of the uses of Amethyst in Minecraft:
-
Making music: Amethyst blocks play beautiful sounds when placed down, walked over, or struck by an airborne object such as snowballs or arrows. The soothing, chime-like sound properties of the Amethyst block are unique and dont compare to any other sounds that can currently be heard within the game.
-
Decoration: Amethyst blocks possess an interesting look that isnt mimicked by any other blocks featured in Minecraft. The purple textured tones make it a perfect item for some niche builds.
-
Crafting: Amethyst shards are a critical ingredient in the crafting of a Spyglass, which allows players to effectively see things from long distances, similar to how a real-life telescope works. Amethyst shards can also be used to craft Tinted Glass, which prevents light from passing a certain area and is great for decoration.
-
Empowering enchantments: Although not officially implemented, some players have suggested that Amethyst could be used to empower enchantments on an item. For example, adding an item and Amethyst to an anvil could increase the level of one of the enchantments on it. However, this is just a suggestion and not an official use of Amethyst in Minecraft.
-
Building material: Amethyst blocks can be used as a building material, and Amethyst shards can be used to create more Blocks of Amethyst if players want to use them as a building material.
Overall, Amethyst has a few uses in Minecraft, including making music, decoration, crafting, and building material.
