An appeal in boxing is a process by which either party can challenge a judges decision in a dispute handled at the LBC or national level. The USA Boxing National Judicial Committee guidelines state that any party may appeal a decision made by an LBC Hearing Panel to the USA Boxing National Judicial Committee within 30 days after the decision-in-date, and a $100 filing fee is required for requests to the National Judicial Committee. The appeals panel will review the decision and can overturn it if the LBC Hearing Panel made a glaring mistake or if new evidence is provided relating to the first grievance case. However, it is rare for decisions to be overturned, and usually, if they are, it is only to a no contest due to a failed post-fight drug test or something similar. The appeals process can take between two and four months.
