An appointee is a person who has been chosen officially for a job or responsibility. This can include positions in government, such as presidential appointees to the cabinet, or beneficiaries under a legal appointment. In some cases, an appointee may be someone who is appointed to act on behalf of someone else who is unable to manage their own affairs, such as for social security benefits. An appointee can be an individual, such as a friend or relative, or an organization or representative of an organization, such as a solicitor. As an appointee, one takes on full responsibility for making and maintaining any claim and managing the spending of the benefit.
