An eCheck is an electronic funds transfer from your bank account to another customers PayPal account. It is similar to a traditional paper check, but it is sent digitally. eChecks are also known as online checks, direct debits, or internet checks. They work similarly to paper checks. Instead of writing your check by hand and mailing it, you can fill out your information online and send the check electronically. The eCheck is then processed by the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, which connects all U.S. banks and facilitates the transfer of funds between accounts.

An eCheck payment may show as "pending" in your PayPal account. It usually takes up to 5 business days to clear, but in some cases, it may take longer. If you receive an eCheck payment, it usually takes up to 7 business days to clear, but sometimes it may take longer. Don’t ship any items or provide any services until the eCheck clears because if you do and the eCheck doesnt clear, you wont get paid for the item/services. You can confirm that a payment is an eCheck payment by opening the transaction details, where youll also find the expected payment clearing date.
