The EZ-IO system is a medical device that provides intraosseous access when intravenous access is difficult or impossible to obtain in emergent, urgent, or medically necessary cases for up to 24 hours. It is a safe, fast, and effective method of delivering life-saving fluids or medication when vascular access is difficult to obtain. The EZ-IO system provides immediate access via the intraosseous route for cases that are emergent, urgent, or medically necessary, such as cardiac, shock, respiratory, and neurologic cases. It provides a reliable bridge until longer-term vascular access can be established, with up to 48-hour dwell time. The EZ-IO system is indicated anytime vascular access is difficult to obtain. The system includes a power driver, needle sets, stabilizer dressing, extension set, patient wristband, and sharps block. The EZ-IO needle set is sterile and single-use, and reuse of the device creates a potential risk of serious injury and/or infection which may lead to death.
