IPN can refer to several different things, depending on the context. Here are some possible meanings:

• International Performer Number: This is a unique universal identifier allocated to every single PPL-registered performer as well as performers registered with other CMOs. Each performer is assigned an IPN by the International Performer Database (IPD), which is a database containing information on over 700,000 performers from around the world, managed by SCAPR, the organization which represents international performer CMOs. The use of IPNs means that we can more efficiently identify performers, making the accounting process more accurate and effective as we can identify each performer by their IPN rather than relying on their name alone.

• Intervention Project for Nurses: IPN is one of Floridas designated Impaired Practitioner Programs (IPP). IPN under contract with the Florida Department of Health (DOH) provides statewide education, support, and monitoring to nurses with impairing conditions such as substance use disorders, psychiatric and physical conditions. Nurses are most often referred to IPN by nursing employers due to potential safety to practice concerns. IPN assures public safety and safety to practice by requiring nurses and CNAs to complete formal evaluations by DOH/IPN approved physicians, successfully complete recommended treatment, provide random negative toxicology screens, and have their practice monitored at the workplace by a worksite monitor.

• Instant Payment Notification: IPN is a message service that notifies you of events related to PayPal transactions. You can use IPN messages to automate back-office and administrative functions, such as fulfilling orders, tracking customers, or providing status and other transaction-related information. The IPN service triggers a notification when an event occurs that pertains to a transaction. Typically, these events represent various kinds of payments; however, the events may also represent authorizations, Fraud Management Filter actions, and other actions, such as refunds, disputes, and chargebacks. The notifications are sent to a listener page on your server which receives the messages and performs backend processing based on the message content.

• Other meanings: IPN can also stand for other things, such as "Instituto Politecnico Nacional" (National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico), "Interplanetary Internet," "Intellectual Property Network," and many others.
