An orgasm is the sudden discharge of accumulated sexual excitement during the sexual response cycle, resulting in rhythmic, involuntary muscular contractions in the pelvic region characterized by sexual pleasure. It occurs after stimulation of the genitals or erogenous zones and is the peak of sexual arousal, causing intense feelings of pleasure. An orgasm is caused by the buildup of tension in the nerve cells, and when that tension releases, you can experience an orgasm. The inability to have an orgasm, or regular difficulty reaching orgasm after ample sexual stimulation, is called anorgasmia or inorgasmia. If a male experiences erection and ejaculation but no orgasm, he is said to have sexual anhedonia or ejaculatory anhedonia. The anus doesn’t produce lubricant naturally, and the tissues in the anal canal are very delicate, which means the area is very prone to microtears when there’s inadequate lubrication. The clitoris is the most sensitive organ in the vulva and is the most common spot for sexual stimulation leading to an orgasm.
