An OTP message stands for One Time Password. It is a temporary, secure PIN-code that is valid only for one session or transaction. OTPs are used when a transaction needs additional security or an alternative method of proving a customers identity. OTPs are typically a string of characters or numbers automatically generated and sent to the users phone via SMS, Voice, or Push message. They are most commonly a six-digit number sent to a customers phone via SMS text message, then entered by the customer into the site or app theyre attempting to log into.
