An RDN is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, which is a credentialed healthcare professional who applies evidence-based nutrition science to help individuals meet their nutritional needs and goals. RDNs are food and nutrition experts with a degree from an accredited dietetics program, who have completed a supervised practice requirement, passed a national exam, and continue professional development throughout their careers. They apply their knowledge of nutrition science in the context of individualized needs, priorities, and preferences in order to address the goals of their clients, patients, or other constituents. RDNs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, and private practice. They can provide personalized nutrition advice, help manage chronic diseases, and develop eating plans for individuals with specific dietary needs. In addition to the RDN credential, there are specialty credentials in areas such as sports dietetics, pediatric nutrition, and oncology nutrition.
