An unabridged book is a literary work that remains untouched and contains the original content, not shortened or altered in any way, and is exactly how the author published it. Unabridged audiobooks are read in their entirety, exactly the way the author wrote the book and exactly the way it was originally published. Every word, every line, every description is read exactly the way it was meant to be conveyed. In contrast, an abridged book or audiobook is a shortened version of the original work, condensed by using fewer words and eliminating long descriptions whilst still keeping the "sense" of the book. Abridged versions of books are often shorter but still engaging as the full version. Abridged audiobooks are shortened versions of the original literature, sticking to the main themes, plot, and/or pertinent information while cutting out any "fluff".
