The Asian Games is a multi-disciplinary sports event held once every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were first held in New Delhi, India in 1951, and have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) since the 1982 Games. The Asian Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.

The purpose of the Asian Games is to provide a multi-sport event for nations in Asia. The events held at the Asian Games are specified in the OCA Constitution and may include all the Olympic Sports and events. The Asian Games are the biggest sports competition in Asia and have 45 participating countries.

The last edition of the games was held in Hangzhou, China from 23 September to 8 October 2023. The next edition of the games will be held in Nagoya, Japan in 2026. Since 2010, it has been common for the host of the Asian Games to host the Asian Para Games held shortly after the end of the Games. This event is exclusive for athletes with disabilities as with the continental version of the Paralympic Games.
