Autodesk Access is a desktop component that is installed with Autodesk products and is used for updating the products available with your subscription. It is a lightweight, nimble UI built on the core installation services that provides a way for users and admins to get the latest updates they need. Autodesk Access simplifies the update experience by allowing users to quickly and easily install updates for their desktop products from the app. It requires Windows 10 or later and can be used by individuals and administrators.
Autodesk Access also plays a crucial role in enabling Autodesk to automatically update components that are critical to providing a stable and secure service to customers such as authentication, authorization, installation, license compliance, and fixing security vulnerabilities. It replaces the Autodesk Desktop App and is part of the Autodesk Installer, so it cannot be removed.
Admins can manage user update permissions to prevent unwanted installs, and they can set update permissions to prevent unwanted installs for companies that need to manage updates for their users. Users at large companies can benefit from Access by getting information about updates that may be available, even if they can’t install them.
Autodesk Access can be obtained in four ways starting March 15, 2023:
- With any new 2022 or later product installation after March 15th.
- As an automatic self-update of the Autodesk installer. This will be a progressive, percentage-based rollout ending around mid-May 2023.
- As an update to ADA starting April 3, 2023.
- As a download from the Autodesk website.
All customers will benefit from Autodesk Access, and there are plans for new features to make getting updates easier.
