Avamys nasal spray is used to treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis, which is inflammation of the nasal passages caused by an allergy, resulting in a runny, stuffy, or itchy nose, sneezing, and itchy, red, or watery eyes. It contains the active substance fluticasone furoate, which belongs to a group of medicines known as corticosteroids. Fluticasone furoate works by decreasing inflammation caused by seasonal allergies. The recommended starting dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over is two spray actuations in each nostril once daily, which can be reduced to one spray in each nostril once symptoms are controlled. The effects of Avamys are usually felt within the first day, although some people may not feel the effects until several days after first taking it.
