A BO ID (Beneficial Owner Identification Number) is a 16-digit number that is assigned to each Demat account holder and is registered with the CDSL. It is a unique identification number that is used to identify a unique Demat account held with the depository (CDSL) through your Depository Participant (DP) . The BO ID is assigned by the Depository Participant (DP) to identify the Demat account holder and is used for all transactions related to the Demat account. The first eight digits of the BO ID comprise DP ID, and the remaining eight digits comprise Unique Client Id. The BO ID is a combination of DP ID and the client ID. It is required when dealing in securities in dematerialized form.

To find your BO ID, you can check your welcome letter from the depository (CDSL or NSDL) which will contain all the account information including your Demat account number. You can also find your BO ID on your Demat account statements or by visiting the profile section of the website. If you have an account with Zerodha, you can view your BO ID by following these steps: Visit console.zerodha.com/dashboard > Click on Account > Click on Demat. If you have an account with Angel One, you can find your BO ID by following these steps: Visit the Angel One website > Proceed to the ‘Linked Demat account’ section for details. If you have an account with FYERS, you can find your BO ID by checking your Demat account number given by the Depository Participant, i.e., CDSL.
