A boar is a male pig, either domesticated or wild. The wild boar, also known as the wild swine, common wild pig, Eurasian wild pig, or simply wild pig, is a suid native to much of Eurasia and North Africa, and has been introduced to the Americas and Oceania. Wild boars are stout-bodied, short-legged, omnivorous mammals, with thick skin usually sparsely coated with short bristles. They have sharp tusks and are normally unaggressive, but can be dangerous. Wild boars live in small family groups consisting of females and their young, but those groups sometimes come together to form larger clusters called sounders. Males are usually solitary but may form bachelor groups and will join a sounder during mating season. The boars cause many habitats to become less diverse because of their feeding behaviors and predation. Wild boars will dig up eggs of species and eat them, as well as killing other wildlife for food. When these boars compete with other species for resources, they usually come out successful.
