In Korea, the Bonsang award is a major prize that can be awarded to multiple artists, usually up to 12, and is determined by album sales, digital sales, online voting, and by the judging panel. It is considered a subordinate prize and is different from the Daesang, which is the grand prize and is won by only one group or individual. To win a Daesang, a group or individual must have won a Bonsang. The Bonsang award is given to several musical acts at the Seoul Music Awards, which is a major South Korean music awards show presented by the newspaper Sports Seoul. The Golden Disc Awards also give out Bonsang awards to multiple artists in both the Album and Digital Song categories.
