BOSS in computer stands for Bharat Operating System Solutions, which is an Indian Linux distribution based on Debian. It was developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing with the aim of promoting the adoption of free and open-source software throughout India. BOSS is customized to suit Indias digital environment and supports most of the Indian languages. It has an enhanced desktop environment that includes support for various Indian language and instructional software. BOSS Linux was released in four editions for different purposes: BOSS Desktop, EduBOSS, BOSS Advanced Server, and BOSS MOOL. BOSS is a collection of many computer programs and documents created by BOSS. It is certified by the Linux Foundation for compliance with the Linux Standard Base.
