Bromfed DM syrup is a combination medication used to treat symptoms caused by the common cold, flu, allergies, hay fever, or other breathing illnesses such as sinusitis. It is a prescription-only medication that comes in a liquid form. The syrup contains three active ingredients: brompheniramine (an antihistamine), pseudoephedrine (a decongestant), and dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant) . It is used to relieve symptoms such as cough, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and watery eyes caused by allergies or the common cold. However, it should be used with caution in patients with a history of bronchial asthma, narrow-angle glaucoma, gastrointestinal obstruction, or urinary bladder neck obstruction. It should also be used with caution in patients with diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, or thyroid disease due to its sympathomimetic component. Patients should take Bromfed DM syrup as directed on the label or as prescribed by their doctor, and should not take it more often than directed.
