It is considered to be one of the most influential companies in the talent agency business and manages numerous clients. CAA represents the worlds premier actors, directors, writers, and producers, and provides a range of motion picture consulting services. They are also the leader in film packaging and brokering financing distribution deals. CAA has a close relationship with several large film studios, including Disney and Miramax/Harvey Weinstein. They have a reputation for being "coldhearted Hollywood power brokers". CAA was formed in the 1970s after several agents at the largest talent agency William Morris decided to leave the company. In September 2023, French billionaire François-Henri Pinault completed the acquisition of a majority stake in CAA, in an agreement valued at 7 billion dollars.
