The Climate Action Incentive Payment (CAIP) is a tax-free payment made to individuals and families in Canada to help offset the cost of federal pollution pricing. The payment is made in four quarters of a year, and the eligible individuals or families are given CAIP on the 15th of April, July, October, and January. The payment dates for each quarter will be the 15th of the month, and the authorities will notify via a public notice of any change in the dates. The government has proposed to deliver CAI payments on a quarterly basis starting in July 2022, with a "double-up" payment that will return proceeds from the first two quarters of the 2022-23 fuel charge year (April-June and July-September), followed by single quarterly payments in October 2022 and January 2023.

If you are eligible for the CAIP, you can expect to receive payments on the 15th of April, July, October, and January. However, note that when the 15th falls on a Saturday, a Sunday, or a federal statutory holiday, the payment will be made on the last business day before the 15th. If you get your tax refund by direct deposit, you will also get your CAIP by direct deposit.
