CBM stands for "cubic meter". It is a unit of volume used in shipping to measure the freight volume of a shipment for domestic and international freight. CBM measurement is calculated by multiplying the width, height, and length together of the shipment. CBM is also critical for calculating dimensional weight, chargeable weight, calculating freight class, or requesting a freight quote. The CBM formula is a simple calculation – it’s the product of the quantity of items, length, width, and height. If a shipment has different-sized items, the formula should be repeated for each size and add up the volumes. The unit of length, width, and height must be exchanged into meters (m) . The conversion rate from CBM into Kg depends on the shipping method. By air, 1 CBM = 167 Kg, by road, 1 CBM = 333 Kg, and by sea, 1 CBM = 1000 Kg.
