CCU stands for Coronary Care Unit, which is a specialized hospital ward that provides intensive care to patients with heart-related conditions. The CCU is also sometimes referred to as a critical care unit, which is comparable to an intensive care unit (ICU) . Patients with cardiac arrest, unstable angina, or other heart diseases requiring prompt medical treatment are housed in this specialty ward. The CCU provides specialized, round-the-clock care for patients with serious medical conditions. The CCU team includes heart-specific surgeons, doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who work in the intensive care unit to care for the patient. The CCU is equipped with more sophisticated cardiac monitoring equipment than the ICU. The variations of CCU include the following: CICU or CVICU: cardiac, coronary, or cardiovascular intensive care unit; CCCU: critical cardiac, coronary, or cardiovascular unit; ICCU: intensive cardiac, coronary, or cardiovascular care unit; and CSRU: cardiac, coronary, or cardiovascular surgery recovery unit.
