Cellulite is a condition in which the skin has a dimpled, lumpy appearance, often referred to as "orange-peel skin". It usually affects the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen, and is most prevalent in women. Cellulite occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin, causing an uneven surface or dimpling. The exact cause of cellulite is unknown, but it appears to result from an interaction between the connective tissue in the dermatological layer that lies below the surface of the skin, and the layer of fat that is just below it.

There are several treatments available to reduce the appearance of cellulite, including exercise, diet, deep massaging, dry brushing, and cosmetic surgery. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also approved several treatments for cellulite, including Cellfina®, Cellulaze®, and Qwo® . However, the effect of these treatments is mostly temporary. A diet low in fat, smoking cessation, and an active lifestyle may help reduce the incidence of cellulite.
