CHCs are private, nonprofit, patient-governed, community-directed organizations that remove common barriers to care by serving communities who otherwise have little access to primary health care. They consist of an interdisciplinary team of health care providers using electronic health records. It is important to note that CHC can also stand for Certified in Healthcare Compliance, which is a certification for individuals with knowledge of relevant regulations and expertise in compliance processes sufficient to assist healthcare industry organizations in understanding and addressing legal obligations, and promote organizational integrity through the operation of effective compliance programs.
