Chin lipo, also known as submental liposuction, is a cosmetic procedure that aims to remove subcutaneous fat under the neckline area, which can help decrease the appearance of a "double chin" or fat under the chin/neck. The procedure involves making two small, well-hidden incisions underneath the ears to allow for entry of the liposuction cannula, which is used to directly remove the fat. The microcannula technique liposuction can be used to allow for faster healing and less potential for scarring. Chin lipo is a minimally invasive procedure that typically takes about 45 minutes and requires only a local anesthetic. The primary criteria for what will make someone a good candidate is a patient who can maintain a stable weight after the procedure. Patients who absolutely should not get the procedure include those with significantly loose skin (increased age), serious medical conditions (bleeding tendencies, high blood pressure, etc.), and finally those with poor anatomy. The cost of chin lipo varies depending on several factors, including the surgeons fee, anesthesia fee, hospital and surgical facility fees, and post-surgery care.
