Clear is a registered traveler program that allows members to quickly verify their identities at touchless, biometric security kiosks. Clear machines use biometric data to identify travelers, allowing flyers to bypass long security queues and get to a TSA screening point faster. Instead of waiting in line, you approach a Clear kiosk where your ID and boarding pass are checked. After getting through the biometric screening, a Clear Ambassador will escort you directly to the next stage of the screening process so that you can complete the physical/luggage scanning. Clear does not include the membership features of TSA PreCheck, however. Clear is available at over 50 airports, stadiums, and arenas across the U.S. Clear membership costs $179 per year, but there is a free two-month trial available for new members. Clear is not necessarily better than TSA PreCheck, but it could significantly reduce your wait time.
