Yom Kippur is a Jewish holiday that is observed on the tenth day of the month of Tishrei in the Hebrew calendar, which usually falls between mid-September and mid-October in the Gregorian calendar. Many Jewish-run organizations are closed on this day, although it is not a public holiday in the United States.
According to the Jewish Family Service of Metro Detroit, they will be closed in honor of Yom Kippur and will reopen on Tuesday, September 29th with normal business hours. Similarly, the Jewish Family Service observes major secular and Jewish holidays, including Yom Kippur.
It is worth noting that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York is closed on Columbus Day, which is a different holiday.
