CMAS stands for Colorado Measures of Academic Success. It is a state summative assessment for language arts, math, science, and social studies in Colorado. The purpose of CMAS assessments is to indicate the degree to which students have mastered the Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) in these subjects at the end of the tested grade level or content area. CMAS score reports offer an overall measurement of performance in a particular subject, as well as how a student compares to other students in the school, district, and throughout Colorado.

CMAS is not just limited to Colorado. CMAS is also known as Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) or Personal Localized Alerting Network (PLAN) . It is a public safety system that allows customers who own an enabled mobile device to receive geographically-targeted, text-like messages alerting them of imminent threats to safety in their area. Authorized national, state, or local government officials send alerts regarding public safety emergencies, such as a tornado or a terrorist threat to CMAS.

It is important to note that CMAS is not related to California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) .
