Corian is a brand of solid surface material created by DuPont, primarily used as a countertop, benchtop surface, washbasin, and wall panel. It is a man-made, solid surface countertop made from a molded material that is a combination of minerals and resins, resulting in a durable surface that is nonporous and budget-friendly. Corian countertops have a solid composition from the inside out, and the color and pattern are consistent throughout the countertop, so it will not change its appearance with wear and tear that naturally occurs over time. Corian is non-porous, so stains cannot penetrate its surface, and with proper cleaning, it also resists the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria. Corian is cheaper than quartz upfront, with prices ranging from $40 to $65 per square foot. Corian countertops were developed in response to laminate, a much weaker and lower-quality option, but it simply cannot compete with the resilience and durability of quartz.
