The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level exam conducted in India by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) . It is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates as Primary (Classes 1 to 5) or Elementary (Classes 6 to 8) teachers. The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the CTET to the CBSE. The CTET exam is held twice a year, and candidates need to clear the exam to attain eligibility to teach in Central Government schools such as KVS, NVS, etc. . The exam consists of two papers - Paper-I is for candidates who intend to teach Classes I-V, and Paper-II is for candidates who wish to teach Classes VI-VIII. The CTET passing rate is set at 60 percent for everyone. The CTET qualification is fixed by the rules confined by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) . Candidates are advised to refer only to authentic Text Books and syllabus suggested by NCTE for preparation in the area of education.
