Cyberpunk 2077 is a video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on the Cyberpunk pen and paper RPG created by Mike Pondsmith in 1988. The game is set in the year 2077 in a dystopian metropolis called Night City, located in the Free State of California. While the games narrative is unique to the game itself, it is set within the universe established in the Cyberpunk rulebooks and uses concepts, characters, and locations from them. Cyberpunk 2077 is not based on a novel, but rather on a tabletop role-playing game.
