A D1 category on a driving license means that the holder can legally drive vehicles containing 9 to 16 seats, such as a minibus. The license holder must be at least 21 years old and have held a driving license for at least two years. To obtain a D1 license, an individual must pass a special theory driving test and a medical examination. The license is generally issued for five years and must be renewed each time after submitting a positive fitness examination. If the holder wishes to tow a trailer of more than 750 kg, they need to get a Category D1E driving license.
