Damar Hamlin is an American football safety for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL) . He was selected by the Bills in the sixth round (212th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. Hamlin played college football at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned All-ACC Second-Team honors. He spent most of his rookie season as a backup before becoming a starter in 2022 following a season-ending injury to Micah Hyde.

Hamlin wore number 31 his first year in Buffalo but switched to number 3 just days before the 2022 season opener. The number 3 is significant to Hamlin because it represents his family, as he is the third of four children.

In January 2023, Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals and was hospitalized. He made a full recovery and returned to professional football again.
