DAV stands for Disabled American Veterans, which is an organization created in 1920 by World War I veterans for disabled military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The organization helps veterans and their families through various means, including providing free, professional assistance to more than 1 million veterans every year to connect them with healthcare, disability, employment, education, and other resources. DAV provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations, their families, and their survivors at no cost. The organization is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization and has over 1 million members. DAVs mission is to empower veterans to live high-quality and fulfilled lives. Transportation free of charge for veterans provided by the DAV Transportation Network to ensure that wounded or ill veterans attend their medical appointments at Veterans Administration medical facilities.
