Dipping tobacco is a type of smokeless tobacco product that is finely ground or shredded, moistened, and placed between the lip and the gum. It is also known as "dip", "chaw", "snuff", "rub", or "fresh leaf" among other terms. The act of using it is called dipping. Smokeless tobacco products like dip and chew are not burned or inhaled by the user. Instead, users put tobacco leaves into their mouth and suck on them. Dip has more nicotine than cigarettes, and the nicotine in dip stays in the users blood longer than nicotine from smoking. Smokeless tobacco is not a safe alternative to smoking cigarettes and can cause serious health problems.
