DNR Police stands for Department of Natural Resources Police. DNR Police Officers are stationed throughout Washington state to protect the public, employees, and state lands, resources, and other assets. They are conservation officers who work for the Department of Natural Resources and are responsible for enforcing laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to wildlife populations. Their duties include patrolling state trust lands, investigating vehicle collisions and infractions, investigating incidents and crimes such as theft, trespass, malicious mischief, assault, reckless endangerment, fish and wildlife violations, and other violations. They also work to educate and assist the general public in matters of conservation of natural resources, outdoor safety, and wildlife management. DNR Police Officers are trained and experienced detectives who have received investigative training from accredited law enforcement academies. They attend official training sessions at least three times a year to maintain their skills.
