Doping testing is a process used by Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) to ensure fair play and protect clean sport. Athletes who compete at the national or international level are subject to doping control and can be tested anytime or anywhere by relevant National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs), International Federations (IFs), and Major Event Organizations (MEOs) . The testing process involves several steps, including notification, reporting to the doping control station, choosing a sample collection vessel, completing the doping control form, and providing a sample under supervision. The collected samples are then sent to a WADA-accredited laboratory for analysis. There are currently three types of anti-doping tests: urine, venous blood, and dried blood spot. The laboratory analyzes the samples to detect the presence of prohibited substances or methods. The doping testing process is highly scrutinized and is a cornerstone of many athletic institutions, including the IOC, WADA, and many professional sports organizations. Testing can have a deterrent effect on those who may be vulnerable to doping decisions, and when people choose to cheat, testing can detect that.
