Drue Tranquill, a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers, wears a Q-Collar around his neck. The Q-Collar is a small, lightweight necklace-type device that applies light pressure to the sides of the neck, increasing blood volume in the brain’s venous structures. This reduces the harmful internal movement that causes brain injury, which is a direct counter to the brain moving around when the head is exposed to an impact. The Q-Collar is an FDA-approved device that is supposedly able to limit head trauma. It is the first and only device in play today to prevent traumatic brain injury. Drue Tranquill announced himself as a partner with Q-Collar, and he was spotted wearing one during a Chargers game. Other notable players who wear the Q-Collar include Tony Pollard, Dalton Schultz, Taylor Rapp, Boston Scott, and Colby Parkinson.
