E20 fuel is a blend of ethanol and gasoline (petrol/diesel) that contains 20% ethanol and 80% gasoline. Ethanol is a renewable energy source that has lower carbon emissions compared to petroleum, making E20 a relatively cleaner-burning fuel. E20 fuel is used for internal combustion engines in vehicles such as cars, trucks, and bikes. It is noted that the E20 fuel blend has certain advantages over normal petrol or diesel, such as reducing carbon emissions and being more renewable than fossil fuels. Studies have shown that most car engines can run on up to E20 gasoline without any long-term issues. The introduction of E20 fuel in India aims to provide respite to an increase in oil imports for the Government of India.
