Eco wash is a setting on washing machines that allows users to be more environmentally friendly by using less water and energy. It is essentially a program that uses lower wash and rinse temperatures so less energy is required for heating, and it minimizes the amount of water required while still achieving a satisfactory threshold for dirt removal. The eco cycle uses less water and less energy to wash clothes, therefore cutting the cost on laundry. However, to achieve the same quality, a wash on eco mode does take longer than a standard wash because the water doesn’t get as hot so needs to run longer to get the same level of cleaning. Eco settings heat the water more slowly and use less water, reusing the same water several times in some cases. The eco mode can save money on energy bills because it uses 35%-59% less energy than a hot wash.
