Enrollment ID (EID) is a 28-digit unique identification number assigned to each Aadhaar applicant. It is a temporary reference number that acts as proof of enrolment until the Aadhaar card is generated. The first 14 digits of the EID are randomly assigned, while the next 14 digits show the date and time of your Aadhaar enrollment. The EID is displayed on the top of your enrolment/update acknowledgement slip. You can use the EID to track the status of your Aadhaar application and get a copy of your Aadhaar card once generated.

Here are some ways you can use the EID in Aadhaar:

  • Checking the status of your Aadhaar application
  • Filing your income tax return (if you havent been given an Aadhaar number yet)
  • Retrieving your Aadhaar number if you have lost it

If you forget or lose your Aadhaar EID, you can retrieve it easily via the UIDAI website with an OTP verification.
